Weekend Creative

I've been wanting to try one of the weekend creative projects that this inspiring woman has been posting on her blog but I haven't had the chance to till now. Ali posted a cute valentines book and tonight I made one for Jeremy as a anniversary surprise.

I started it early, because I didn't know how long it would take since I was hand stitching everything. Would you believe it took a little under 2 hours to finish? I am loving these projects!!

Here it is:

I am psyched that this is complete and that all I have to do is add journaling. I think my favorite part of the book is the inside cover where you can see a heart stitched from the front cover heart.

I am working on a few other sewing surprises for him!

Almost back

I got a wopping 5 hours sleep last night! It is a start and hopefully tonight will be better and I can get back to some kind of sleep pattern. Here I sit in from of the computer with my little friend and some warm comforting tea.

With all of my non sleeping time, I have been keeping my hands busy with my current crochet project and have found some much needed time to browse my favorite blogs!

While browsing this morning I came across this blog and the cute project she is starting. The super short story tag book sounds like something cute to do and something I could make from my stash! I love making things from the stash now!

1. Tree lines SKY, 2. Cloudy background, 3. Hanging out, 4. Camera Love

How is the music?

Me + Insomnia = :(

The past few days have been rough here. Hubby and I both have had a bad case of insomnia. Most likely brought on by the recent stress and going-ons with family and work. Day three for me and I am wearing down...hopefully as soon as I hit post on this I will be able to settle in for the night. (Fingers crossed)

With all this newly found time, I've been keeping my hands busy. I pulled out one of my crochet UFO's (unfinished object) and I went to work on it. I am deeply fond of the color red and no, it is not because of my hair color(hubby thinks so). I just think it is color that calls to me and always makes me cheery! I fell in love with this pattern for a throw and knew I had to make it. I am up to 10 squares and I need 35.

One of the things that made me smile today is after I finished a few squares, I put them side by side of the ones I made months ago and realized how far my crocheting has come. There was quite a difference in the shape around the edges and I could see that my stitches were nice and clean. I kind of got some butterflies in my tummy when I saw it.

I'll be sure to post a picture when I am done. I'm still working up to the point when I will be good enough to make this coat that I am still dreaming of....my pattern reading is not quite there yet.

Off I go to bed. Hubby has fallen asleep successfully I think...Wish me luck!

TLFE

Do you recognize this symbol?

These little symbols decorated many of my notebooks in my younger school years. I was reminded and inspired by it when I sat down to scrap a picture that I just adore from this past valentines day. I used a few things from my February RV kit in this one and a few things that I picked up with a christmas gift card. This was also inspired by challenge 8 over at ScrapMojo. First time I have ever done one of these challenges. Once again...I didn't get it done by the 15th deadline...oops!!

Pink and red are my usual favorite colors and I love this time of year because they are everywhere! Who do you TLFE?

before AND after

Last night I was held up in my creating area with this little baby. The album I have had for about a year. I picked it up for a ridiculous price at Borders. It was one of those things...like many things in my stash...that I was saving for just the right project. I think I've found the right one...

Before:

After:

A few things about this:
1) I used the cute flowers given to me by Gretchen (thank you G)
2) Those white buttons in the title are recycled...they actually came off the uniform I had to wear in nursing school...is it weird that I get warm fuzzies when I see them?
3) I used the felt Thickers in the February RV kit and I must say, they are SWEET!!
4) I took a ton of pictures of this cover, trying to get it just right and I posted the very first picture I took of it.
5) My desk may look neat in that first picture... but it really isn't!!

Another post soon....I'm working on something in pink, red and RV today!!

Happy Valentines Day

I had a great day today with my valentine. We were able to sleep in and spend the whole day together!! Tonight I made Chicken Kiev and Twice Baked Potates (hubby's favorite) for dinner and then we had some chocolate heart cake. We went to a few stores early in the day too and made a stop at my MIL's house. Hubby was looking for something in the garage and came across this sweet find!! A little basket with some whimsies in it. It contained three that I didn't have from the early collections!! :)

With hubby's help, I was able to get a few good pictures of my Overlooked layout for Subject 2. Few things about this layout:

1. It was sooo much fun to make and I made it completely from my stash!! Two of the things from my stash have been in my stash for years!!

2. Not my usual colors....there is a secret to the colors...can you figure it out?

3. The journaling box was inspired by the nutritional facts label on the side of the red rose tea box! I even recycled some of the box on my layout.

I'm going to go drink my tea and get ready for bed now.

Sneaky Peek

What a sweet night!! I got to scrap for 4 hours tonight!! yeahhh!!!! Hubby said why don't you go scrap while I get a few things done in my room (his collectibles room)..and I was ran in and shut the door fast!!!

I finished my Subject 2 layout for Overlooked ...here is a sneak peek at my layout. As soon as it dries all of the way, I will able to take a few pictures. It was soo much fun doing this one!! This piece of a Red Rose Tea box gave me inspiration for my journaling! Can't wait for you to see it!! I am excited to say that being on this stash diet and finding Overlooked has made me use some products that have been in my scrap area for quite a long time!

Time to go snuggle on the couch with my love!

Subject 2

We have many collections in this house...tooooo many to mention. When I saw subject 2 over at Overlooked I knew exactly what I wanted to share. Here are a few pictures of my some of my Wade Whimsie's.

These are the Endangered Animals and the US animal series...

This is the Noah's Ark series....hubby got me the ark to go with it for Christmas... This is the Pet Shop Series that is out right now and the Circus series...I still need a Rabbit to complete the pet shop series...hubby also got me the pet shop as a christmas gift...
Some of them on display...

For those of you not familiar with whimsies, I will explain. In every box of Red Rose Tea bags, there is a small ceramic collectable enclosed. They are released in series....right now the "Pet Shop" collection is out.

While I have always been an avid tea drinker, I haven't always collected these. When I moved in with hubby, my MIL introduced me to Red Rose Tea Bags. It had a great taste to it and I was instanly hooked. A little while after that I found out about the Whimsies. I fell in love with them as well and started saving them and every time we got a box of tea it was a treat because I would get a new figurine.

Most of my collection was given to me. My MIL told me once after I started collecting them that there was a ziplock bag of them somewhere in the garage. After searching the garage and cleaning it out, we didn't find them. We were bummed but a few weeks later she discovered them in the attic in a box. I was sooo excited. It was like Christmas! I have added a few to the collection from our trips to yard sales and to antique shops. I'm still missing a few from the earlier series but I know in time I will get them.

What do you collect???

Hugs and Happy Collecting,

Heather

Updates

Here are the cute fortune cookies I made from this tutorial. They were really easy to make and they are going to make a cute gift for hubby for valentines. I printed a few messages off of the computer and stuffed it inside with some sweets.

I know I mentioned Overlooked to you
guys before. It is this great blog that has inspired me to think and create. I hope you will all check it out. I posted my preview of Subject One here and this is the layout that I have created.
I just finished uploaded my Subject Two pictures a few minutes ago. When it was posted I knew exactly what I was going to do. There are a few things that I collect. Check back later this week for more.

Another share...I made
this hat! Can you believe it? I purchased the pattern on Etsy a few weeks ago. It was easy to make and I am in the process of making a second one a bit smaller. It really isn't supposed to cover your hair like the one I created does. I am happy with it though. It's been keeping me super warm.

I couldn't end this post without showing you this post by my talented friend Lisa. I think I am going to follow her lead and decorate the cover of my overlooked album too! Thanks for the inspiration Lisa!

Hugs and Happy Creating,
Heather
